Program Description

Do you have a young scientist that is ready to take on a challenge? Come join us in Term 4 STEM Club as we explore science and engineering around the topic "Future World"! What does STEM stand for? STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in an educational context. STEM-related learning is important in schools and at home, as it provides an opportunity for children to learn about topics and disciplines that will serve them well in later life, particularly for in-demand new job roles. STEM education encourages critical thinking, improves technological literacy, and leads to the next generation of business leaders and innovators. Children that learn STEM effectively now will be the adults that will lead the innovation to sustain our future economy. NPE's STEM Club provides opportunities for children to work on hands-on projects which will stimulate your curiosity as we challenge their problem-solving and design skills. Learn about electrical circuits and electromagnets through hands-on models and experiment, design the future "sustainable" clothes and your own space rocket model! Following the design thinking process, students will work collaboratively and alternate learning and applying their knowledge in STEM. Through an entrepreneurial mindset, students will build upon their critical thinking skills, resourcefulness and creativity to define, understand and design solutions to real-world problems. Topic 1: Renewable energy​ Topic 2: Future clothing & wearable tech​ Topic 3: Electronics for future engineers Topic 4: Space exploration Learning Experiences: - Explore renewable energy sources and create a pocket-sized power - Make an electrical dough and investigate conductivity of materials - DIY electronic clothing and wearable tech​ - Understand Newton's laws of motion through hands-on experiment - Design, build and launch your space rocket - Work collaboratively with peers​ as a team of future innovative changemakers!
