Program Description

Unlock your imagination by delving deeper into narrative writing and poetry! In the first five weeks, students will have the opportunity to respond to visual prompts, plan, write and edit two original stories, building on creative writing skills and techniques. In the following three weeks, students will explore and practise a diverse range of poetic devices, composing their own poems and enter a poetry competition! This course culminates in a creative Narrative Project (your choice of narrative or poetry writing) and the end of term project presentation and feedback. Classes are designed to support 4-6 students per group each week. It serves as the perfect blend between maximizing classroom interaction and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. Learning goals and strategies are tailored to each class to improve students' writing skills. Using a student-centred "Modelled - Guided - Independent" instructional model, our teachers collaborate with students to scaffold their learning and eliminate any gaps in understanding.
