Program Description

Hello and welcome all you aspiring Wizards, Witches, Mythical Creatures, and everything in between. For term 2, we’ll be sticking with one of the most popular Magical Thriller and Action series in the world. Book 3, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”. Along with reading one of the top actions filled series in the entire Harry Potter Series, students will analyse the text through discussion, literature comprehension, chapter quizzes, and awesome creative writing exercises. Each week before class, students will read between 1 and 3 chapters. Then as a group, we’ll meet and discuss what we’ve read. We will also examine a few selected paragraphs for literary analysis and reading comprehension in the class. The weekly class will include interactive games and group work which will include character explanations and critical literary analysis. This will be concluded with a short writing or sharing exercise relating to the chapters, plot points, and in some cases a deeper analysis of text meaning. NPE’s Book Club follows the same guidelines and structures explained in the NSW Education Curriculum. This Term 2 book club will be very similar to Term 1, however, it will consist of more multi-media and film clip exercises as well as loads of rewards and recognition for students who participate fully each week. When students enjoy reading, their comprehension skills will rapidly improve. Reading is fundamental for every student’s education and can always be built upon or improved. Learning Facilitator Harold has created and facilitated several successful, educational book clubs at NPE. Students not only enjoy his thoroughly crafted programs but also leave the program with immense confidence and improved academic skills. Learning Facilitator Harold is a skilled Educator, Tutor, and Avid Bookworm. Reading, Writing, and Debating are not only loads of fun, but pivotal for any student’s ongoing success.
