Does Action, Adventure, Greek Mythology, Mysteries, and epic showdowns between Good Guys and Bad Guys truly excite you? Why not join our Wednesday Book Club to dive deep into the fascinating world of books! In Term 2 we are going to mix it up and start a new series written by Rick Riordan called Heroes of Olympus. This means the awesome action-packed Greek Mythological theme is the same, but the literary excitement, adventure, and action will leap off the pages even better than before. Term 2’ s book club will dive deeper into the history of Greek Mythology, the Beautiful and vast Italian Culture... Beyond loads of fun every student enrolled in this Book Club will have, the class will enhance students’ Literacy and Critical Thinking skills, communication, and teamwork. Each week before class, students will read between 1 and 3 chapters. Then as a group, we’ll meet and discuss what we’ve all read. We will also examine a few selected paragraphs for literary analysis and reading comprehension in the class. The weekly class will include interactive games, group work which will include character explanations and critical literary analysis. This will be concluded with a short writing or sharing exercise linked or relating to the chapters, plot points, and in some cases a deeper analysis of text meaning. NPE’s Book Club follows the same guidelines and structures explained in the NSW Education Curriculum. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to read books they wouldn’t normally read. When students enjoy reading, their comprehension skills will rapidly improve. Reading is fundamental for every student’s education and can always be built upon or improved. Learning Facilitator Harold is a skilled Writer, English Educator, and avid bookworm. Reading, writing, and debating are not only tons of fun, but also pivotal for any student’s success in the future.
